Values. This word is often found in books and motivational speeches, but what it really means and how to apply it in life is unclear. Today I want to explain what values are, how they work in practice, and why understanding them can make your life easier.
I'll start with my example.
I recently saw a video on Instagram with the caption:
"What gives me a sense of wealth?"
And even before watching it, it was clear that it was definitely not about trust funds and Maldives, right?
I thought: what a cool and simple formula for clarifying your values!
Because that's what life feels like when you follow what's important—it becomes rich, fulfilling, bright. You may not know exactly where you're going, but you feel like you're in the right direction.
I also reviewed my list of values again (I do this regularly, especially when I find interesting approaches) and wrote down 7 reasons that gives me a sense of wealth.
This video you can watch here .

1. I expand my boundaries and horizons
Physically, mentally, emotionally. I push myself to grow, even when I'm scared or lazy. Through study, sports, discipline, travel, stepping out of my comfort zone.
2. Exploring the world
I am constantly attracted by questions: how is it organized, what are its laws, can they be changed or created by others? That is why I read books, learn languages, listen to podcasts, travel, and communicate with smart people.
3. Exploring myself
Knowing the world is a movement outward, and knowing yourself is an inward movement. And you can move in both directions at the same time. Self-development, reflection, diaries, meditation, analysis of emotions - I constantly explore myself, understand my patterns, and work on my inner state.
4. Deep connection with loved ones
Even though my family lives far away, I keep in touch with them. Friends, family, important people are my support. Strong relationships are also valuable.
5. Do what I love
I love coaching, planning, and helping people structure their lives. For some, it's just "time management," but for me, it's a mindset transformation.

6. Create
My texts, reels, website, even Notion planners are my creative process. I create something every day. Art is not just about pictures, it's about creating meaning.
7. Freedom
Freedom from other people's expectations, from the fear of making mistakes, from the pressure to "do it right." Life is not always easy, but the ability to choose your own path makes it meaningful.
3 main reasons to understand your values

Imagine a situation: you have a choice between two jobs, two trips, two people.
What would you choose?
If you're not aware of your values, choices can be chaotic. But if you know what's important to you, the decision becomes clearer.
For example, if your value is comfort, you won't buy fashionable but uncomfortable shoes. And if style and self-expression are your main values, comfort won't be a priority.
This is how values permeate our entire lives, even in the smallest things.
Therefore, the first reason to clarify your values is that they help you make decisions .
Another example: let's imagine a person for whom self-realization, development, and at the same time family are important. This means that there is a need to earn enough for private school, health insurance, and family vacations.
If a person has not only clear understanding what are my values but also has them prioritized, then the choice between two jobs is no longer a question. They probably will replace a vacation in the Maldives with a trip to their grandmother's village, because the more important thing has won.
This gives internal support and certainty — the second reason.

And also, by understanding values and starting to act on all levels based on them, from your shoes style and a place to go on vacation, to work, a country to live in a sense of meaning emerges.
And here is the meaning of life - lying ready until everyone returns from their retreats, meditations and Everests and waiting for you to simply start living each day as it is important to you. Reason number three.
Conclusion:
Values are basically an internal coordinate system.
When a person becomes aware of them, he or she stops fussing and begins to act more consciously, which makes the decision-making process much easier and gives a feeling of completeness, richness, and meaning.
And now, an exercise: how to clarify your values?
Take a piece of paper or open your notes on your phone and answer one question:
“What gives me a sense of richness in life?”
Try to write down at least 10 items. Let them be things, people, events, states - everything that makes your life rich, bright, causes a response in the body and soul. Use your own words. Do not write "development" or "harmony" if this only causes irritation and confusion. Write as you feel it.
What to do with this list?
Check in. Every day. Use it as an internal compass or a map.
And that's what brings happiness. It's so simple.
